Manulovers, here’s a unique opportunity! 😻

Around early September, Elmwood Park Zoo in the United States launched a new manul encounter called Pallas’s Playdate.

The exact launch date does not appear to have been announced separately, but the program was already available to visitors by September 3.

During the 15-minute encounter, guests can get very close to Reza and Kasper and feed them some of their favorite treats through the mesh. A keeper stays with the guests throughout the experience answering questions and telling them more about Reza and Kasper.

Each encounter is available for up to two guests aged 12 and over.

In special cards, the zoo explained which features of their appearance can be used to tell the four adult Pallas's cats apart.

Shafran is on exhibit again at Ueno Zoo!

Starting today, September 1, Safran, the daughter of Primula and Klyon, will be on exhibit in the enclosure where Primula used to live.

On August 30, Primula left her exhibit enclosure and is now living off-exhibit while undergoing further examinations and treatment.

Friends, sad news from the Howletts Wild Animal Park, UK: the wonderful manul Jochi, the youngest son of the legendary Temuchin, has passed away 💔

Jochi lived a long manul life — he was 10 years old.

We dreamed of meeting him in purrrson and were head over heels in love with his charming and funny snub-nosed, serious little face and his expressive, grumpy gaze of a steppe warrior. Now his photos will remain with all of us as a keepsake. 🙏

Jochi, you grumpy fluffy gentlecat, we adore you and will always remember you ❤️

⚡️ Friends, a new zoo has appeared on the manul map: Drayton Manor Zoo, in the United Kingdom!

Tuya and Kharaa, the elder daughters of Namuu and Atlan, born at Port Lympne in 2025, moved there at the end of May 2026.

The Minuladies from Port Lympne Had a Health Checkup

Port Lympne Wild Animal Park reported that the three fluffy girls, born in March 2026, to the manul family of Atlan and Namuu, had another health checkup and received their second vaccination.

The vets report that all three kittens are doing brilliantly: they are lively and active!

A reminder that at the end of July, the girls were given “flower” names.

We added them to the website, and now it’s possible to tell who is who.

The minuls at Niabi Zoo have been given names!

Niabi Zoo shared that, after much consideration and watching how the minul’ personalities reveal themselves as they grow, names were chosen for the three fluffy sons of Eevi and Haruto. Their names are related to the manul’s natural habitat and the cultures of the places where their wild cousins live ❤️

Let’s meet them!

🏔️ Everest was named after the highest mountain in the world — Mount Everest. In January 2023, the presence of manuls in the Everest region was confirmed through DNA found in scat samples. And among the brothers, Everest has the lightest face, which reminds of snow. Everest is a true loner manul: he prefers to stay close to his mom Eevi and doesn’t hang out with his brothers as much. Looks like he’s a truly independent manul 😄

🌏 The name Luka, according to the zoo, poetically conveys the image of “vast lands and frontiers to cross” and symbolizes a spirit of adventure and exploration. Luka almost always spends time with his brother, Aslan.

Meet this charming manulady Naré. According to the zoologists, she is around one year old.

She arrived at Yerevan Zoo after Nano and Mano, but just like them, she came here from the wild in Iran.
When she arrived at the zoo, she was severely underweight. But Armenian hospitality and generous portions work wonders (we’ve tested this ourselves 😹)!

The kittens Pepe and Shu from the Leningrad Zoo have been given names!

Yesterday the Leningrad Zoo celebrated its birthday — it turned 161 years old. To mark the occasion, the zoo shared wonderful news: the minuls Shu and Pepe have been given names!

Recently, specialists from the “Predatory Mammals” department carried out a follow-up examination of the little ones. As they grew, their gender characteristics became more visible, and it turned out that the fluffy quartet is three sons and one darling daughter (not two sons and two daughters, as reported earlier) 🥰

Meet the fluffy boys Aiden, Berk, Batyr, and the girl Aksa 😻

As a reminder, four manul kittens were born to Pepe and Shu on May 8, 2026. For Pepe, this is her first experience as a mamanul.

Friends, recently at the Brno Zoo the minuls had a veterinary checkup, during which the kittens’ sex was determined. You’ll be surprised, but not all of them turned out to be boys!🤭 Three kittens are girls, and two are boys.

Alas, one of the kittens did not survive😥 To this day, one of the main problems in keeping manuls in captivity remains the high mortality rate among kittens.

We wish the fluffy Czech five to grow up healthy and strong and become big and very serious manuls! And now let’s admire the new delightful photos of the manul kittens shared with us by Jan Máca.
