April 12, today is the birthday of the wonderful Lolokins! They turned 2 years old!

Here they were just three months old.

Let’s admire what serious and fluffy charming manuls they have grown into!

Lucky

Here is handsome Lucky (Lolokin #1).

Two forms of existance: winter Lucky and summer Lucky.

He is easy to recognize by the large spot in the middle of his forehead.

And when he was little, especially long fluffy “tufts” stuck out from his ears, which is why some manulovers affectionately nicknamed him “Kistochkin” which means “Tufty” 🥰

This winter, Lucky moved from the Novosibirsk Zoo to the Greens Zoological Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in India.

At Novosibirsk Zoo, he could most often be seen standing on the roof of his house on his rear pows, staring toward the direction from which the beloved zookeepers arrived with dinner—while also peeking at what interesting things were happening in the neighborhood 😅

Leon

And now have a look how Lolokin #3, Leon, has manuled up — absolutely incredible!

On the left — a little dandelion baby; on the right — a fully manulized manul!

We think that out of all the Lolokins, he has definitely grown into the most grumpy-looking one. We even call him “Ljutyj” among ourselves, which means “a very very grumpy” 😁

By the way, he began perfecting the art of the extreme grumpy manul stare when he was a kitten, when he and his brother Bruce moved out from their mother’s place.

Little Leon is learning to look at the world with a very serious expression.

So, Leon is easy to recognize: first, by his grumpy facial expression, and second, by his unusual nose — notice the asymmetry beneath it.

He is a very expressive and special manul!

He currently lives at the Novosibirsk Zoo and is enjoying the third spring of his life 🌸

Bruce

The handsome and cozy Bruce (Lolokin #6).

At the Novosibirsk Zoo, Bruce lived together with his brother Leon.

The brothers got along wonderfully!

This February Bruce moved to the Greens Zoological Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in India.

We hope we’ll see you again someday, buddy!

Daughter of Lolo 2024 Ⅴ

Lolokin #5 (sadly, her name is still unknown to us, but we hope to solve that mystery someday).

We think this fluffy girl looks the most like her mother, Lolo 🥰

Last spring, together with the Son of Eve 2023 Ⅴ, she moved to the non-public facility Amazonia Zoo in Moscow.

Gabi

Do you remember the shyest, quietest, yet very serious little one from the fluffy Lolokins gang?

Here she is — beautiful Gabi (Lolokin #4)! Just look at what a charming and serious manulady she has grown into!

Just like in childhood, in summer Gabi loves lounging on her perch like a fluffy nymph, watching the world go by.

And in winter, she prefers observing everything around her and blessing zoo visitors with her stern gaze while peeking out from her little porthole window 😁

Happy birthday fluffy Siberians!

We wish you the most important things of all: to be the happiest and healthiest manuls in the world, and lots of pikas of course! 😁

    Alexandra Titova, And Gabichka🥰

We don't know exactly when the official names appeared.

But we know that there really weren't any for quite some time. This may be because the keeper who previously worked with Pallas's cats and gave them names (which we all know well—Miya, Lastochka, Zhora, Pepe, Chip, etc.) quit the zoo, and there was a brief naming gap.

I'd also like to point out that the Novosibirsk Zoo administration isn't exactly known for its openness, so getting any information about Pallas's cats from them is always a laborious and diplomatic endeavor that takes time.

In other words: we told about them as soon as we could! 🙏
