Nano and Mano 🧡
🤓 And now it’s time to find out what their names mean:
♂️ Manó (Մանո) — a common male name in Western Armenian and among the Armenian diaspora, formed as a shortened version of the name Manuk. The meaning of the word and the name Manuk: “child,” “infant,” or “little one.”
♀️ Nanó (Նանո) — a shortened form of the name Nanor (Նանոր) or Nané (Նանե). Nané is a female name found in ancient Armenian folklore and traditional songs. In Western Armenian, besides being a female name, Nané also means “mother.”
⚡The genders of Az and Nar’s kittens has been determined!
In May this year, manul Az at Kobe Animal Kingdom gave birth to minuls.
Today, June 17, the zoo shared new details about the growing fluffy offspring.
During a routine veterinary checkup, specialists determined the kittens’ genders: the litter turned out to be four boys and one girl! 🥰
All five little ones have already opened their eyes, their first teeth have begun to come in, and they have reached an important stage of growing up — a gradual weaning from their mother’s milk.
On June 10, the young one-year-old handsome Hide, the fluffy son of Minya and Eru (El) , moved from his paternal home to Asahiyama Zoo ❄️
Right after arriving, Hide was restless and for a while paced back and forth in his indoor enclosure, which is completely normal when getting used to a new place. But he is doing well! 🙏
Hooray! On May 8, Shu and Pepe the manuls had four fluffy kittens! 😻
For Pepe, these are her first cubs, so the staff are trying to disturb the family as little as possible: the kittens are still in the den, feeding on milk, and are only just beginning to open their eyes. Their sex is not yet known.
We wish the little ones to grow up strong, healthy, and curious, and Mama Pepe — calm, strength, and plenty of manul patience and wisdom!💛

At Port Lympne Wild Animal Park in the United Kingdom, minuls were born to the manul family of Namuu and Atlan!

On April 23, we held an International Pallas's cat Day Livestream on YouTube where we talked about manuls, zoos, read the studbook, and even smelled manul fur! 😸

Meet Saran, a fluffy Italian lady, the daughter of Fellini and Altana from La Torbiera. She arrived at the zoo first, back in December.
And just recently, her fluffy groom named Aaron joined her. Aaron is the son of Alani and Aysen from Košice Zoo.
We wish these fluffs manul happiness in their new home — and may they fall in love with each other! ❤️
Last December, the young fluffy miss Zaya, daughter of Namu and Atlan, moved from her home zoo, Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, to her new home — Banham Zoo.
Let us remind you that there is another Pallas's cat living in Banham: a six-year-old male named Khal.
We hope these two fluffs will like each other! After all, the manul breeding season is in full swing! 💖
