Mother Nature seems to always know when I'm planning a manul pilgrimage and sends me rain. Smithsonian, Prospect Park, and now Elmwood Park... every time rain! And today it wasn't just rain but a full nor'easter!
Fortunately and surprisingly, I did get to see both of the boys!
Kasper stayed in his little house, but he watched me the whole time with a deeply judgemental look that was probably warranted. Silly human should have been dry and warm inside!
The Elmwood Park Zoo Instagram account has been posting tons of videos of Kasper and Reza that people should definitely check out if they haven't seen them. The boys are full of character, and they seem to have very dedicated and caring keepers!
(Also I should be taking another trip to visit them at the end of the month, and I can't wait!)

Here she is sitting on my previous plush, who I have obviously named Zelenogorsk. I think I will name this one after my best girl, Poes! 😁
I'd been trying to wait until the weather got cooler, but I had a few days off this week with nothing special to do and got impatient so I decided to make a manul pilgrimage to Elmwood Park Zoo to try to see Kasper and Reza in their new home.
It's a small zoo, but nice! Seems clean and well-maintained. It's pretty much right off the Pennsylvania Turnpike so even though it's farther than Prospect Park for me, it's probably easier to get to.
Found the manul enclosure between the North American porcupine and red-tailed hawk. All three enclosures look new and aren't on the zoo map yet so I presume this space was built just for Kasper and Reza. ☺️ And just look how nice and big it is! Both sides belong to them.
