Leningrad Zoo has revealed the gender of Pepe’s minuls
Leningrad Zoo in their Telegram channel shared some minul-news about manul Pepe and Shu’s kittens.
Recently, the zoo held a sound quiz and invited people to guess which of its residents can sound almost like a siren.

And the answer turned out to be very unexpected: that loud, resonant voice belonged not to adult fierce predators, but to very tiny manul kittens!
Along with the quiz answer, the zoo also shared new details about the little ones: in the fluffy quartet, there are two boys and two girls. Right now, each manul kitten weighs between 410 and 450 grams.
By one month old, the kittens had already opened their eyes and ears, but for now they are still feeding on their mother’s milk and staying close to Pepe in their cozy minuliverse.
Pepe has already moved the little ones from the first “nest” into a new little house. The minuls are beginning to peek out through the entrance of their den, but they are not going out into the enclosure yet. And that is a very manul-like approach: first grow up, gain strength, and only then conquer the big world.
Pepe herself is doing an excellent job as a mother. She is active and full of energy, feeds and raises the cubs, but does not forget about her training either. Sometimes she even initiates it herself: she goes to the door and looks for the staff in the corridor!
The manul kittens do not have names yet. The department of carnivorous mammals at Leningrad Zoo is choosing the best options.
