Meet the gorgeous Katun the Pallas's cat. She lives in Novosibirsk Zoo.
She's eight months old, born on April 26, 2025 in Novosibirsk Zoo to the family of Achi the Pallas's cat and Snezhinka the Pallas's cat.
While their official names have not yet been announced, we call all of Snezhinka’s kittens born in 2025 after rivers that begin at the foot of mountain Belukha — the sacred mountain of Altai and the highest peak in Siberia. Belukha means “White/Snowy Mountain,” which symbolically echoes Snezhinka’s name, which means “a snowflake” in Russian. Katun is the most famous and the longest river of Altai. Its name comes from the Turkic word Kadyn, meaning “lady, queen.”
