The minuls at Niabi Zoo have been given names!
Niabi Zoo shared that, after much consideration and watching how the minul’ personalities reveal themselves as they grow, names were chosen for the three fluffy sons of Eevi and Haruto. Their names are related to the manul’s natural habitat and the cultures of the places where their wild cousins live ❤️
Let’s meet them!
🏔️ Everest was named after the highest mountain in the world — Mount Everest. In January 2023, the presence of manuls in the Everest region was confirmed through DNA found in scat samples. And among the brothers, Everest has the lightest face, which reminds of snow. Everest is a true loner manul: he prefers to stay close to his mom Eevi and doesn’t hang out with his brothers as much. Looks like he’s a truly independent manul 😄
🌏 The name Luka, according to the zoo, poetically conveys the image of “vast lands and frontiers to cross” and symbolizes a spirit of adventure and exploration. Luka almost always spends time with his brother, Aslan.
🦁 Aslan means “lion” in Turkish and is associated with bravery. The keepers describe Aslan as the feistiest of the brothers — a little manul with a “lion’s heart"😼. And Aslan is also Luka’s main play buddy.
The zoo reports that very recently all three brothers had another wellness checkup: they received their next vaccines and dewormer, and were weighed again as well. The minuls were a little feisty about it (of course 😈), but everything went great. All three are growing well, and their weight is exactly where it should be!
As a reminder, the three boys were born to Eevi and Haruto at Niabi Zoo in May 2026 ❤️

Everest and Aslan looked so like the minul-photos of Cota, Alani, Khal etc that I looked them up and, yes, they're related! Via Rosa and Erdene they share Beebop and Alula.
Everest is a mama's boy it seems! It's good to hear all three boys are growing up strong! They're all such handsome young manuls!! 💚💚
