Grusha's New Home
Grusha is scheduled to move to a new enclosure on April 29. The zoo shared and showed what this new home will look like.
The new fenced area consists of an area with artificial rocks and a grassy area. Artificial rocks:

This type of enclosure was created because Pallas's cats hide not only in rocky but also in grassy areas.

There will be green grass here:

The artificial stone section is enclosed with glass. The glass is designed to minimize reflections and is angled so you can see inside without worrying too much about glare.

And the grassy area is fenced not with glass, but with a lattice:

Near the new enclosure there is a notice with the date:

Gorgeous new home for the gorgeous Grusha!
Looks like a nice home!
Does anyone know much space Manul's need? I feel like a lot of enclosures are significantly smaller than this and I would prefer to support zoos with adequate space for them.
JT, The largest enclosures are probably in Sweden, at Nordens Ark Zoo. Roman and Victoria visited this zoo, and there are some great videos on the zoo's website : https://manulization.ru/zoos/sweden/nordens-ark.html
partyontheobjective, It's so sweet that the zoo took the time to make the transition for Grusha from the old enclosure (pictured left) to the new enclosure (pictured right). The transition will be smooth for Grusha 👍
I am really glad they did this. Grusha is noticeably getting older which made jumping from his platform to his little stone very difficult. Last time he hurt himself because he miscalculated the jump :(
Great decision by staff, now he just needs a partner
Анна, I noticed that, as well. I hope they lure him in with chicken!
