Bożenka has been found!
Poznań Zoo reports that Bożenka the Pallas’s cat has been found! Hooray! 🎉
The zoo announces that Bożenka has returned — safe, healthy, and… looking as if she just came back from a weekend in the city rather than an unexpected escape 😼
According to reports, Bożenka was most likely roaming not far from the zoo grounds. She was spotted near Lake Malta and also around the Olszak Pond area.
The fluffy traveler was eventually found on the zoo grounds near the nocturnal animals pavilion, which is located not far from the zoo’s main entrance.
Most importantly — she is in good condition! 🙏
Bożenka will remain under observation until Monday to make sure everything is truly fine.
Poznań Zoo thanks everyone for their help, shares, and attentiveness. It truly made a difference! ❤️
P.S. So, now we’re waiting for a book about Bożenka’s adventures! 😁

Looks like Bożenka was circling the zoo and the lake, and ultimately, came back to the zoo. She was found in the night animals pavilion, on the other side of the zoo, near the entrance. What a clever girl!

Yes, it turns out that she went beyond the zoo, walked to the lakes (marked on the map in red), and then, full of new impressions, returned to the zoo (the approximate boundaries of the zoo are marked in blue)😁.
I also marked the Pallas's cat enclosure on the map for clarity.

Ok, but there's a worrying info leaking out. Some news sources report that Mania died. This would be in the last 3 months bc I saw her last November and she was doing well.
Working to find out more, but maybe you guys have more reach.
UPDATE: Yes, Mania died late November last year. Confirmed via phone call to the zoo.

Thank you, Vika. The big lake is far away. In any case, she's traveled enough, and it's good that she returned to the zoo, where she was found fairly quickly, instead of going into town.

Oh, those freedom-loving Polish cats! Magellan was ready for a trip, then Bozhenka decided to pop off for a picnic. Thank goodness everything ended well. But they'll have to sit out the quarantine under observation. A manul's immune system is just too fragile.
partyontheobjective, Oh, what a shame! 😢 Manya was such a wonderful mommy! She reminded us so much of Lastochka when she sat proudly on her favorite mountain in the enclosure.

Indeed, she was a compact queen on her rocky throne. She will be missed greatly, by me, and everyone who knew her. Today's been a hell of a ride and it's not even done yet. It's all very overwhelming.
Glad she has returned! Hopefully they can prevent this issue from happening again. I can only imagine what would happen if a large animal got out.

JT, The problem this time is that it was a sabotage, Bożenka didn't escape on her own, someone broke into the zoo and openeed her enclosure.

I'm so relieved she's been found!! Since it seemed deliberate, my biggest fear was someone trying to keep her as a pet, which would have made her much harder to find, I think. I'm glad she just went on a small adventure and is now home. 💚💚💚 We love you, Bozenka!!

I am so happy she came back! Bożenka would probably say that she escaped because her enclosure is too small and the zoo has not find a groom for her yet 😻.

Annika Wawrzyńska, The mating season at the Novosibirsk Zoo is still underway! During the season, pairings can change and new pairings can occur, so for now I can only say this: they haven't met yet, but we'll see what happens next 😉
