Manul of the day
Todays princess of Karakol Zoo is Knjazhna Karakol'skaja!

Knjazhna Karakol'skaja was born in 2013 - 2014 in the wild of Kyrgyzstan. She was captured by locals when she was about one and a half years old because she tried to sneak into a chicken coop.
When she was captured she was very weak and hungry, so she was put into the Rehabilitation Centre at Karakol Zoo so she could get better. She stayed there for a while, but was later released back into the wild of Kyrgyzstan.
Question of the day: Which manul is you're favourite?

How interesting! I hadn't known about manuls that were released back into the wild. I hope this beautiful miss had a wonderful wild life. 💚
Oh and obviously my favorite manuls are the legendary Zelenogorsk and my best girl Poes!
Omg she's so cute
Now that's news to me! What an amazing manulady with an amazing story! I didn't know—thank you!
I read more about the Karakol Zoo, especially since the information is now presented so clearly after the upgrade! I found out that they tried to nurse back to health an unnamed minul taken from the wild in very serious condition—he had been beaten with a stick. But they were unable to save the minul...
People can be very cruel sometimes, I know that, but cases like this are still upsetting...
mnamosyna (rachael), Dasha
There is a good book about her: Vadim Kirilyuk, Dasha and Her Whole Family. It is easy to buy in Russia, https://ozon.ru/t/wEyPQEv
Pavel Burov, I thought it was a local book, sold only at the zoo, but it exists!!!
Thank you, I’ll take it!
Pavel Burov, Wow thank you for the recommendation, I'll have to see if I can find it in English!
helga ingvar, Have a tissue ready! The book is super awesome and incredibly touching! 😳💞
mnamosyna (rachael), Last year, Vadim Yevgenyevich told us that there were plans to translate this book into English, but now I can’t find anything about it online 🙁 Perhaps it hasn’t been possible yet.
Pavel Burov, Wow, manuls are going up in price faster than gasoline!😯😄A couple of years ago, we bought this book for about 500 rubles.
Vika Malyshkoverified_filled ,
I bought one myself for 1,400 in winter.
helga ingvar,
For searching.
helga ingvar, Shame on them! Who beats a manul?? Why does someone do something like this?? 😭😭😭💔💔 Poor little one! 😢
Zsófia Borbély, They are peasants. People who will simply bury their children if they lose their laying hens over the winter. Foxes carry off chickens, but catching a fox is difficult; they caught a cat, declared it guilty, and beat it. Cruel? Yes. Having to bury your own children because they did not survive the winter is not much of a prospect either.
Life is often cruel.
For us, living in luxury that until recently was unattainable even for kings, it is easy to judge others. A quick example of luxury: I take a shower every day. Warm water. Warm water of drinking quality. And I wash with it. That is unimaginable luxury for most people on our planet. And 150 years ago, such a level of luxury was hardly possible even for kings.

Oh, then I’ll definitely be sobbing...
There’s a series of children’s books called "I’ll Be Your Friend"—I adore it and cry buckets.
And here, about manuls, I’m going to need a bucketful of sedatives 🥲
Pavel Burov, Thank you!
Zsófia Borbély, People come in all kinds. Some are cruel. And some are kind—people who could have beaten Knyazhna Karakolskaya (thanks to whom we are gathered here) for hunting chickens, but instead turned to the zoo staff for help, and in the end everything worked out happily for both Knyazhna Karakolskaya and the chickens.
helga ingvar, The book about Dashenka is very uplifting. Touching, and at times it brings a tear to your eye. But very, very uplifting and kind. Sometimes I simply reread it to recharge in the warm rays of goodness.
