Manuls prefer dry steppes and rugged mountains — they are definitely not fans of water. Seeing a manul like this, right by the water, is an exceptionally rare moment and pure luck!
That’s why I love this photo so much.
That day, heavy rain passed through Borgo Ticino, and for a short while a picturesque puddle appeared in Fellini’s enclosure — and I was lucky enough to capture the moment!
Looking at him, you can let your imagination wander: a wise, fluffy son of the steppes sits by the shore of one of those hidden mountain lakes, quietly contemplating. And somehow, you just know he understands this world far better than we ever will.
By the way, today La Torbiera reopens after its winter break — and you can finally meet Fellini in purrson 😻

Fellini is an excellent dancer. I watched a video from last September, but he's also distinguished by his cuteness...that's a common trait of Pallas's cats...
I usually think of Fellini as quite the suave gentleman, but in this picture he has a much more ruggedly handsome look! <3
