The keepers tidied up, washed the little ladders and stumps, and drew Timosha some fresh water.

When the keepers left, Timosha came out and actively wandered around, enjoying the greenery and the freshly washed little ladders.

You could even say he sprang out! 😄🥳
Hello, Timosha!! You are looking extra handsome today!
Also speaking of... I really enjoy how Russian does nicknames (or diminutives is maybe the more correct term?). That is the -oshas and -echkas and -ochkas and -uskas. I ask because is there a rule or system as to which one a name should get? Could Timosha also be Timochka? This is probably not the right place to ask for a linguistics lesson but I'm very curious! And I want to be calling Russian manuls by their appropriate nicknames! 😅😅
mnamosyna (rachael), In Russian, lexical poverty is compensated for by a highly developed system of word formation (your Captain Obvious). This includes the many derivative names we create.
Yes, Timofey can be called Timochka. However, there are nuances that are hardly amenable to formalization. For example, if I’m called Pashechka, that means I’m about to be half-jokingly taken to task. Timochka is perceived as an affectionate, teasing name; for example:
— Timochka, you hairy-ass, why were you shouting yesterday and not letting the pandas sleep?
At the same time, all this can vary within the country—not only from region to region, but even from family to family.
So yes, call Timosha Timochka. We’ll understand from the context that it comes from love and joy 🙂
mnamosyna (rachael), If anything, Timoshenka is an excellent choice when you want to pick Timoshenka up in your arms, kiss him on the nose, hug him, and coo over him 🤗🥰 That is, always.
Timosha came out — the day was not wasted 👌 And with that, I congratulate us all 😁
Pavel Burov, Ah thank you so much for this explanation! Timosha, Timoshenka, Timochka... I love them all! 😁

A Japanese poet wrote it.
Like the blade of a katana
Timon flashed.
Will you come tomorrow.
mnamosyna (rachael), And when Timofey looks like a bold, super-cool cat, a kind of ruler of worlds, then he is Timon 😄😎
