At the International Pallas's Cat Day event at Nogeyama, I had the chance to touch Figa-kun’s shed fur.
It was softer and fluffier than I expected.

At an event held at Oji Zoo in April 2024, I was allowed to touch the stuffed specimen of the individual kept at the zoo. What surprised me was the density of the fur. It was much more thickly furred than a domestic cat, and the surface of its body was covered in especially fine hair. Perhaps its feel is similar to that of a chinchilla? The fur was dense, but it had an exquisite softness that let my fingers sink in with hardly any resistance! I was in a dreamlike state, so my memory may be polishing it a little.

Анна, Thank you! I thought of Pecky first too, but it seems I was wrong. According to the quote in the post you shared, when they contacted the zoo, they were told it wasn’t Pecky but an individual that had died by 2012. I wonder how fluffy and lovely that Pallas’s cat must have been in life. I wish I could have met it.
