Don't throw rocks at animals

I was visiting Bob and Tuya today.

Tuya in Chemnitz Zoo,

Both are still separated. But I was happy to see them, even from far away. And I hope for good (minul) news maybe next year.

At the end I was having a very loud argument with a dad/family there. These people were super loud and throwing rocks at the animals because they "weren't doing anything". (Besides calling them "fat" and "useless".)

Bob was visible afraid after this and hiding in the far corner of his cage.

I would have stopped them anyway. Regardless the animal.

It's just rude and I don't understand how people can be like that to any animal.

What awful sounding people. Thank you for standing up for the manuls! People who do that should be banned from zoos altogether.

Julia Hughes, I never experienced this before. I mean, yes, people will be loud but throwing rocks so their kids will be entertained for moving animals?

No worries, I would have said something regardless the animal.

Thank you for speaking out for manuls.

Does any zoo staff know this?

poor babies. people like that shouldn't be able to go to zoos. I hope they are safe and can run around freely soon without worrying about that stuff...

This would drive me crazy. Zoo staff should definitely be made aware and intervene. Super unacceptable.

Oh poor Bob! 💚 I had a similar, though not nearly as bad, experience once visiting Sarnai and Batu.  A hoard of children on a school trip were SCREAMING in front of their enclosure.  Of course the cats immediately hid and when I turned to be friend to gripe, "Oh great they scared them away," the chaperones got mad at ME.  They kept saying, "It's a ZOO," and I was like, "Yes?  Exactly?  Hence why you don't scream so loud at wild animals???"  People are unbelievable.
