Two months ago, helga ingvar introduced a Russian Pallas’s cat picture book.

https://manulization.jp/manulover/helga%20ingvar/posts/pocemu-serdit-manul-ekcg9aqdiveu9mcj.html

Apparently, it was a book that could basically only be obtained through marketplaces within Russia, but I really wanted to get hold of it.

As an option for me living outside Russia, helga suggested a Chinese marketplace.

However, when I tried accessing the marketplace site, it seemed rather difficult to use, so I gave up on buying it there.

I visited Kobe Animal Kingdom a few days ago.

At the nearest station, Keisan Kagaku Center, you can see the poster of the Kobe minuls right under Ootani-san!

Ootani-san and the Kobe Minuls

Then, I entered the zoo. It was at just 10:00 a.m.

After watching sand cats, flamingos, etc, I entered the Asian Forest where manuls live.

Mama-Az and her minuls were in the right enclosure.

Who has a nickname "Phil"?

This is a post by Sapporo Novosibirsk Society.

It says,

"A manul named Phil from Novosibirsk Zoo became the mascot character of Novosibirsk Junior Philharmonic Orchestra."

But I can't find a manul from Novosibirsk named Phil on this website.

According to a manul lover, Nar got free from the cone collar.

A manul lover named k-ji reports:

"Daddy Nar might have washed his face too much because he was too happy at his  getting free from the cone collar."

So, maybe his previous inflammation was healed, but he has another trouble on his face...I hope it's not serious🙏

Here I introduce the minuls born in zoos around the world in 2026.

As you all know, this was the year of the baby boom among Pallas’s cats in captivity.

Arranged in chronological order...

March 28

Three were born at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park in the United Kingdom. Father: Atlan, mother: Namuu.

There’s the NHK TV series named “Darwin Has Come”.

They announced they made the film version and wild manuls appear along with other wild cats! It will be released this October.

This must be one of the Novosibirsk manuls.

This is a series of Gashapon toys. There are 3 groups of animals.

Lev

From the left to the right, The Bremen Town Musicians 02, Town Musicians of Cats, Town Musicians of Small Animals.

You can see a manul as a member of Town Musicians of Cats.

I guess the model is lev😻

Lev became the model of some works of this sculptor Hashimoto Mio. (Who carved the prototype of the Gashapon toys)

For example, this one. (This is not only a sculpture but also a pillow!)

Hello to all Pallas's cat lovers.

The site has now implemented a new "translation function into any language."

Therefore, although I am normally a Japanese speaker, I will be posting an article in Japanese (probably the first on this site).

This is a repost of an article posted here in August 2025.

Does the first half of the Pallas's cat's scientific name really mean "ugly ears"?
