ANOTHER Pallas Plush

Today a package arrived with my name on it… and it was another Manul!! Today in class, I was thinking about a package I’d ordered months ago — a small Pallas Plush. I was afraid it was never going to come. As I was walking to my car at the end of the day I decided I should check my emails, and guess what I saw!!

I saw a notification saying a parcel had arrived and had been collected from the post office. I didn’t want to get my hopes up, but I hoped it was my manul plush.

When I got home, I saw a parcel with my name, written in bold letters, sitting on a table.

I ripped it open and out came…

Manul IKEA plush in Australia

Have any other Australian manulovers noticed that the ALPTALL collection that contains the manul plush has released later in Australia than other countries?

Fortunately, they will be on shelves by tomorrow but I was upset I wasn’t able to pick one up today while I was in Canberra…

Hopefully while I’m on the Gold Coast I’m able to catch a bus or tram to Brisbane to go to the IKEA to pick up the beautiful manul plush, and if I can’t, I’m sure I’ll have time to pick one up when I’m passing through Canberra next week!!

I wish lots of manuls to everyone ♡

Increasing amounts of manuls used for hate

After making my other post in the steppe about this issue, my experiences seeing people using manuls for hate symbols has increased. In under 2 minutes and on one account I was able to find large amounts of hateful content attached to manuls, mainly transphobia and nazism.

As I’ve stated before, this is a platform about fluffy cats and I don’t want to bring politics into it but these people are hurting the image and reputation of the manul.

Manul Dogwhistle

I have recently seen the manul used as a facist dogwhistle to promote hateful beliefs, primarily against marginalised groups all over the globe.

I know others have seen this happening due to a TikTok video I saw https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSqEJ2wM7/ but I was wondering if any fellow manulovers have seen this…

It is very unfortunate that the beautiful animal that is the Pallas’ cat is being used to spread such hate and malice.

There are lots of concerning comments indulging in this negative manul dogwhistle, here is an example, combining it with the SS Nazi dogwhistle. The creator of the original video has also associated manuls with hurtful beliefs against marginalised racial groups as shown in the screenshot and the LGBTQ+ community in their comments

Australian Manuls

Hello fellow Manulovers, how possible do you think it is that manuls could be introduced to an Australian zoo. This post in not a request but simply what opinions do people have on manuls living in captivity on Australian soil??

There are many places in Australia that wouldn’t be too hot for a manul, and even then advanced cooling systems exist. Also, I’m pretty sure transcaspian/persian manuls do inhabit some warmer places in Iran. The steppes do get considerably warm in summer as well.

Australia is one of the two habitable continents that does not house captive manuls, the other being Africa.

I’d love to know others opinions on Australian manuls!!
