Son of Pema b. 2019—the loveliest Pallas's cat, who used to live in Chemnitz Zoo.
He was born on June 25, 2019 in Chemnitz Zoo to the family of Norbu the Pallas's cat and Pema the Pallas's cat.
Unfortunately this manul is not with us anymore. He passed away in September of 2019, he was two months old.
One of the biggest problems of keeping Pallas's cats in captivity is the high mortality rate among Pallas's kittens. They are most vulnerable during their first year of life. In the first year of life mortality rate among Pallas's kittens in zoos varies from 50% to 70%. In the wild mortality rate varies from 70% to 90%. Unfortunately Son of Pema b. 2019 didn't survive the first year of his life.
