Ginger—the gorgeous Pallas's cat, who used to live in Novosibirsk Zoo.
It’s interesting that since childhood, our fluffy hero and his brother have had noticeably different coat colors: one has a sunny ginger coat, and the other — a grey one with a dark silvery tint.
That’s why manulovers nicknamed them Ginger and Grey.
The zookeepers, however, tell them apart a little differently: Light (Ginger) and Dark (Grey).
Unfortunately Ginger is not with us anymore. He passed away in November of 2025, he was six months old.
One of the biggest problems of keeping Pallas's cats in captivity is the high mortality rate among Pallas's kittens. They are most vulnerable during their first year of life. In the first year of life mortality rate among Pallas's kittens in zoos varies from 50% to 70%. In the wild mortality rate varies from 70% to 90%. Unfortunately Ginger didn't survive the first year of his life.
