Goroshinka—the terrific Pallas's cat, who used to live in Novosibirsk Zoo.
He was born in April of 2025 in Novosibirsk Zoo to the family of Zelenogorsk the Pallas's cat and Mia the Pallas's cat.
He was unusually tiny and the smallest in the litter, which is why manulovers immediately nicknamed him “Goroshinka,” which in Russian means “a little pea”.
Unfortunately Goroshinka is not with us anymore. He passed away in June of 2025, he was two months old.
One of the biggest problems of keeping Pallas's cats in captivity is the high mortality rate among Pallas's kittens. They are most vulnerable during their first year of life. In the first year of life mortality rate among Pallas's kittens in zoos varies from 50% to 70%. In the wild mortality rate varies from 70% to 90%. Unfortunately Goroshinka didn't survive the first year of his life.
