An Open Letter to Japanese Manulovers
Sunday, August 30, is just around the corner. Just know that we’re with you.
If you get the chance, please pass along words of support and gratitude to the keepers and zoo staff. For their openness and honesty, for all their hard work.
And tell Primula that we’ve sent her so many beams of health that it’s high time she stopped pretending and started bounding around the enclosure again like a youngster.

Thank you! I appreciate your thoughtfulness.
I echo every word! Wishing everyone patience and faith in the best!
I echo Pavel's words!
We’re very worried about Primula. Please pass on our love to Primula’s keepers and to all of Primula’s fans!
And what will happen to her on August 30?? I just didn’t hear
yura_manuloman52, There is a chance that the tumor has metastasized to the lungs. On August 30, she will be taken off display for examination and treatment😔
🙏🙏🙏
Sending love and strength to Primula and all Japanese manulovers!!
I love Primula and I want to thank the Japanese manulovers that share her beautiful photos on the site. It must be a hard time for everyone that knows Primula personally. Sending love to Primula, her husband Klyon, her beautiful children, her keepers, her photographers and everyone that loves her in- and outside of Japan. ❤️
I hope I can share as much as possible about the local situation here as well, including Naima and Kuryon.
schwentine, I thank you dearly for all the photo-sharing of Primula you’ve done! I really love this girl and it’s precious to see her!
First of all, thank you for looking out for Primula, the people involved with her, and her fans as well.
The other day, I shared this article on X.

Then, just a little while ago, I received a comment from someone named midorinokuma0612.
https://x.com/midorikuma0612/status/2093301975953903653
“Today, I told Primula’s keeper (zookeeper)
about it.
They were very happy,
and said, ‘Thank you very much.’
I wonder if it will reach the Russian manulover?
Primula is doing well, so every day she can’t wait for her food
and is flying all over the place.”
That’s what they said.
We’re told Primula is doing well.
The ‘energy ball’ sent to Primula by manul fans all over the world must have reached her 😊
It sounds like the keeper is happy about the article too 😃
Everyone’s passionate feelings are getting through 😃
Let’s hope Primula stays healthy and lives a long life 🙏
Maeko Ushiro, There was another comment from midorinokuma0612.
https://x.com/midorikuma0612/status/2093308519147864345
“I wish I could have told you myself, but
please bear with us.
The person in charge was surprised, saying, “Do people in Russia know about this?”
They were amazed.
She was darting around on Wednesday too.
The exhibition is ending so she can focus on treatment.”
That’s what they said.
There’s also a video attached showing Priemura looking lively on Wednesday 😊
Maeko Ushiro, Of course, we know. Roma and Vika are erasing the boundaries between manulovers all over the world. This is Primula, our beloved kitty, Klyon’s wife. It’s so heartening to hear that she is feeling well, is active, and has a good appetite. We hope for the best and are clinging to the caveat about the possibility of lung metastasis. May the suspicions in this case prove unfounded 🙏
Maeko Ushiro, Thank you so much for all the information! We gather every scrap of information about our beloved Primula-san, reread it several times, and worry.
Oh, and how many people are at her enclosure!
Maeko Ushiro, Thank you for sharing on X. I’m glad this post reached the regulars at Ueno. (I’m still pretty new here, so it’s hard for me even to strike up a conversation with the keepers...)
Primula is acting as usual and is very energetic. There’s no sign at all now of the downcast look she had after returning from surgery.
However, since there’s no telling when her condition might worsen, it seems the focus is on treatment.
In any case, let us believe in Primula’s recovery and wish her well.
schwentine, Thank you for your photos. Primula, Klyon, Naim. They are all so lovely and beloved. I admire Naim with delight every time. Such a lively little cat at 16 years old 🤗
Maeko Ushiro, Just in case, a note about the humor. This is a standard joke in Russia. When you visit someone who is seriously ill, asking about their health somehow doesn’t feel very appropriate. So, right from the doorway:
— Well then, malingerer, haven’t you had enough of lying around? Come on, let’s go play soccer instead. No? So you’re just going to keep wearing holes in the bed with your backside? Well, suit yourself.
I join the message! I thank and support the keepers and manulovers of Japan and everyone who knows the wonderful Primula! This girl is very dear to me; may everything be well with her: her health, appetite, and mood! ❤️🙏
Love for manuls unites us despite borders and all our differences! ❤️
helga ingvar, You're welcome😊
schwentine, Thank you again for letting us know that Pri is doing well 😊
Pavel Burov, Understood 👍️
Russian jokes are quite varied, aren’t they? 😁
It is already August 30 in Japan. Little Primula, may your move to the backstage area be for your own good.
