The legendary manuls — Zelenogorsk and Karaganda have passed away 💔

For several days we couldn’t bring ourselves to write a single line about this. Words just wouldn’t come — there were none to express how much Zelenogorsk and Karaganda meant not only to the global manul community, but to us personally.

Once, it was a meeting with Zelenogorsk at the Novosibirsk Zoo that completely changed our lives and opened the door to a whole new world of these incredible fluffs. He was a true ambassador of his species, leaving behind a large and wonderful fluffy legacy. But most importantly, he became a guide for thousands of people around the world into the manul universe — because it was simply impossible not to fall in love with him!

His breathtaking charisma, beauty, rare sociability and openness for the species, combined with the temper of a wild son of the Tuvinian steppes, gave no one a chance 💘

Karaganda—dear Pirat, aksakal, father of an entire Pallas's cat dynasty, and elder of the Siberian Pallas's cat tribe. His enormous contribution to preserving the species' population cannot be overstated: today, his wonderful green-eyed offspring live in many zoos around the world, including in Japan! 💚
For many, Karagandusha was a symbol of resilience, longevity, and incredible natural strength, an example of fortitude and the desire to live, no matter what.

Once, it was he who became our fluffy bridge to amazing people who later became our friends — manulovers from Japan ❤️ where he is especially loved and revered 🙌🏻

He was one of the oldest manuls on the planet, and perhaps the oldest of all — his exact age is unknown.

Fluffy total legends, thank you for everything. May the boundless heavenly steppe welcome you.
Manuls Zelenogorsk and Karaganda will forever remain in our hearts, in the hearts of thousands of people around the world, and will continue to live on in their fluffy descendants 💞
