tierpark berlin visit 🐾
hello everyone! today i visited tierpark berlin, but it did not go very well. 😢
we arrived around midday, which was not ideal because i thought the manuls wouldnt be out.
we made our way to the himalayas section and it was beautiful! we saw red pandas and alot of other cute animals.
we got to where the manuls are, and there were no signs of chary and chengdu 🥺 we waited for a while but we still didnt see them. my dad even played manul noises, but it didnt work!
eventually, we left the himalayas. we went to the other manul enclosure in the zoo where maneki-neko is, and we didnt see her. we waited more and looked at the nearby animals, and she still didnt come out.
but, we did however see a photo of a manul from 1973, displayed!!
that was pretty nice to see. we went to exit the zoo and went to the gift shop and we didnt really see any manul merch. there was a postcard for €1,50 which i bought but that was the only thing they had, even the worker said.
i hope when i visit rotterdam zoo i will have more luck! i was disappointed i didnt see any manuls today, but i guess we came at the wrong time 🙁

What a pity, but at least you got to see a rare photo. My European favorite, Pose, lives in Rotterdam; I hope she’ll show herself to you together with her brother

It’s a pity, but noon really isn’t the time for manuls... Especially in the heat of summer.

I haven’t been to Berlin, but it seems to me you should either come for the opening or after 4 p.m. But with manuls, alas, you can’t predict anything (you can wait all day and still get no results)
Oh, don’t be upset that you didn’t see any manuls! In fact, that happens quite often: manuls are indeed rather secretive and self-sufficient animals, and they also like to sleep during the day.
It probably won’t comfort you, but I can say that Roman and I were at Tierpark Berlin twice and only once saw Chengdu — already late in the evening 👻
And this rare 1973 photo of a manul is just wow!!! 🔥 Just look at what an interesting and unusual pattern the manul has on its forehead: a black triangle! I’ve never seen anything like it!

I went to Berlin this year as well. But had absolutely no luck seeing the manuls.
I don't know if the kids playground next to them is a bit too loud for those shy animals🤭🥲
