Jochi—the gorgeous Pallas's cat, who used to live in Howletts Wild Animal Park.
He was born on July 3, 2016 in Howletts Wild Animal Park to the family of Temuchin the Pallas's cat and Nuruu the Pallas's cat.
Jochi was given his name in Howletts Wild Animal Park where he was born. All Timuchin’s children were named with Mongolian names. Jochi was the eldest son of Temüjin (Genghis Khan) who was a Mongol army commander. Read more about the names of Jochi.
Jochi is a confident, fluffy heartthrob with a very unique and memorable facial expression.
Our hero absolutely loves his food — especially rats! He’s active, vocal, and often barges into the safety porch with keepers as they are coming in to feed him. If you are too slow, he may just climb you to get to his breakfast that bit quicker!
You can usually find Jochi sitting on his swing at the front of the enclosure, waiting for one of the carnivore vehicles to drive by.
Unfortunately Jochi is not with us anymore. He passed away between July 15, 2026 and July 31, 2026, he was ten years old.
Pallas's cats rarely live more than 5 years in the wild. In zoos under human care Pallas's cats live longer. Jochi lived a long and happy manul-life in comfort and being loved.
