A few tips if you really want to see Timofey.
It seems that chances of spotting him rise sharply during the fattening season — we’ve been “lucky” at the end of August and now again in early November. In August, he’s a slim summer cat; by November, he’s clearly round.
It’s best to come in the afternoon (and there’s a hunch that the beginning of the week is better). If you arrive and see him sitting motionless on the middle shelf — don’t rush to leave. Two-hour vigils at the enclosure show that Timofey usually sits there for about 10–15 minutes, then checks the keeper’s hut entrance on the opposite side, and after that takes a stroll around his territory.
During his walk, he might perch on a tree right by the glass — a perfect moment to admire him up close. So don’t leave too soon — give it another 10 minutes. You can also watch Timofey’s neighbours, the golden eagles; they, too, occasionally put on a magnificent show.
