Pallas’s cats evolved as a species in the mountains, where the climate is dry and freezing and there are few bacteria. What is more, there were no people or their domestic animals around, so Pallas’s cats have weak immune systems that are not adapted to the viruses and bacteria that ordinary domestic cats have grown accustomed to.
