Only the keepers feed them 🤗 They serve meat (a little) with special tongs.
This feeding method for manuls (and some other animals) in Japan is a demonstration for visitors. The main feeding (with rats, mice, etc.) usually takes place in the evening, after the zoo closes.

Wow, I’d seen this feeder in photos before, but I could never figure out how it worked...
What an interesting contraption! So does that mean every visitor can feed the manul? Or do the keepers still do it at set times and in set portions?
