Rosie—the beautiful Pallas's cat, who used to live in Denver Zoo.
She was born on May 5, 1999 in Denver Zoo to the family of Ivan the Pallas's cat and Olena the Pallas's cat.
Unfortunately Rosie is not with us anymore. She passed away in the spring of 2000, she was nine months old.
One of the biggest problems of keeping Pallas's cats in captivity is the high mortality rate among Pallas's kittens. They are most vulnerable during their first year of life. In the first year of life mortality rate among Pallas's kittens in zoos varies from 50% to 70%. In the wild mortality rate varies from 70% to 90%. Unfortunately Rosie didn't survive the first year of his life.
Rosie was given her name in Denver Zoo where she was born. Read more about the names of Rosie.
