A handsome Kyrgyz manul who lived in the Karakol Zoo. Unfortunately, the zoo doesn't have photos of him..
He was brought to the rehabilitation center at Karakol Zoo at about one year old, in very poor condition after being beaten with sticks. He had a closed head injury and an eye hemorrhage. Unfortunately, despite treatment and the veterinarians’ care, the manul lived in the center for no more than six months. He passed away in 2019.
Unfortunately this manul is not with us anymore. He passed away in 2019, he was ten months old.
One of the biggest problems of keeping Pallas's cats in captivity is the high mortality rate among Pallas's kittens. They are most vulnerable during their first year of life. In the first year of life mortality rate among Pallas's kittens in zoos varies from 50% to 70%. In the wild mortality rate varies from 70% to 90%. Unfortunately Unnamed manul #29 didn't survive the first year of his life.
