Kamchatka—the gorgeous Pallas's cat, who used to live in Denver Zoo.
He was born on April 16, 1997 in Denver Zoo to the family of Vasil the Pallas's cat and Katya the Pallas's cat.
Unfortunately Kamchatka is not with us anymore. He passed away on June 16, 1997, he was two months old.
One of the biggest problems of keeping Pallas's cats in captivity is the high mortality rate among Pallas's kittens. They are most vulnerable during their first year of life. In the first year of life mortality rate among Pallas's kittens in zoos varies from 50% to 70%. In the wild mortality rate varies from 70% to 90%. Unfortunately Kamchatka didn't survive the first year of his life.
